Look for a situation in which your work will give you as much happiness as your spare time.' Joel Salatin told me the same thing, If you have to go on a vacation from your job, never come back. There is no need to compromise. You can find whatever it is that you want from life.

M and I read this before our instructor arrived in preparation to get certified. She's ready to be a legit babysitter! This student workbook has info available to find easily and has examples with pictures. It also comes with pocket sized resource cards providing quick reminders.

This guide is more effective with the proper training. I gave it 4 stars because on its own, it doesn't give you all the caveats and demonstrations. Excellent reference material with pictures. Highly recommend using this with the AHA course. Get certified.

The Android Software Development Kit (SDK) is a crucial part of Android development for beginners to come to grips with. It’s a selection of files bundled together that you will need to begin creating Android apps. It consists of tools like the virtual device manager (emulator) and ADB bridge, as well as a library of additional code for making Java programs work with the Android platform. How to install the Android SDK

The SDK is now included with Android Studio. Installing Android Studio is just as simple — we have a guide on how to install it here. Ultimately, it is again just a matter of downloading the installer and following the steps as prompted. At one point you’ll be given the option to choose a path for the SDK to be installed; make a note of this – it may come in handy later.

Setting up Android development for beginners has become a relatively streamlined process. It involves a few rather large files — so be prepared for that and some lengthy download times.

Updating the SDK

When you install Android Studio, you’ll automatically get the latest version of the Android SDK. The SDK is constantly being updated with new features and security updates. It’s your job to ensure you keep pace with these changes, so you can support the latest versions.

To help you do this, Android Studio provides something called an SDK manager. This is a program specifically for downloading parts of your SDK. Open the manager by heading to Tools > SDK Manager. You’ll be greeted with a list of files under the tabs SDK Platforms and SDK Tools.

The SDK platforms are the Android platforms you can develop for. You need at least one to create a working app. If you choose the latest version, you’ll be able to support all the latest features of Android.

New versions of Android should be backward compatible, so unless you are a pro developer looking to make use of a cutting edge feature, you’re probably fine to ignore this tab once you’ve gone through the initial installation. It will make Android development easier for beginners.

Java Apps For Cell Phones

Under the SDK Tools tab, you’ll find a list of the other elements that make up the SDK, all of which you can install individually. Those with a blue box with a dash through are ready for updating. The most important things here are the Android SDK Build-Tools, the Android SDK Platform-Tools and the Android SDK Tools. You may also want the Android Emulator and system images if you plan on running and testing your apps on your PC.

In the meantime you can mostly forget all about the SDK manager if you're a beginner

Android Studio will let you know if any mandatory updates are required, so you can mostly forget all about the SDK manager (likewise, Android Studio itself will prompt you when it is ready for an update). Now you know how to start supporting the most recent versions of Android, once you graduate from beginner to status that is.

Installing the Android SDK on its own

You may be wondering whether you can download and install the Android SDK on its own — and if you would ever need to.

The one use-case where this is convenient is if you ever find yourself needing to use a different IDE, such as Unity. Unity is a game engine and “game maker” that can be used to create Android games. You’ll use a completely different interface and even a different programming language (C#), but you’ll still need a copy of the Android SDK for that program to be compiled into an APK ready to run on Android. The same goes for Android development using other tools like Xamarin.

If you want to make it as easy as possible to start Android development as a beginner, I recommend you still install Android Studio along with the SDK as before (you’ll still need the JDK too). When you go through this process, just make a note of the path where the SDK is installed. Normally, you will need to tell other IDEs where the SDK is located on your computer. Find this option in the settings (Google is your friend if you’re not sure where that is) and then copy paste. Installing the Android SDK this way is easier for beginners, and it also means you’ll have Android Studio on hand should you ever want to try traditional Android development.

(Some IDEs will give you the option to download Android Studio automatically when you go through the set-up process.)

Installing all of these extra files will take up a lot of space on your computer. If you’re really keen to keep things to a minimum, you can always download the “command line tools only” option. You’ll find this by scrolling down the page where you found Android Studio and downloading the zip file for your specific operating system. You’ll find instructions on how to use this here.

I know some 'normal' Java (computer Java), and I want to run such a program on my Android device. Is this possible? If yes, how?

Generally this is not possible as although Android-flavored java has the same syntax and semantics as typical java, it does not run on the same virtual machine (Google has its own VM that android phones all ship with and which has a different byte code format than conventional java VMs) nor does it use or have access to Oracle's java standard library. Google reimplemented most of the important elements (e.g. Google has its own implementation of HashMap, ArrayList, etc.) and ditched a lot of other stuff (e.g. there's no swing package in Google's library).

You can do it quite easily as there are many ways to run Java apps on Android. Specific application called Java Emulators can do it quite easily.

These are the popular Java emulators for Android: viz, JBED, PhoneME, Jblend and NetMite. There are arranged in order of my preference. You can use PhoneME for unrooted devices; however, if your device is rooted try any of the remaining three applications.

If by 'normal' Java (computer Java) you mean Java Standard Edition (J2SE - the Java programs that usually run on a PC, like Eclipse, Vuze etc...) then the answer is most probably no. There is no way to run them directly on Android and there are no (at least not known to me) apps or modifications that allow it.

The apps (emulators) mentioned in other answers are for the J2ME (Java2 Micro Edition, also known as MIDP and applications as 'midlets') environment. They are the Java applications for mobile devices that were popular before Android appeared.

You could yry using JBED. JBED is a program designed to offer the possibility to use Java applications (.jar files I believe) on devices with the Android OS. I've never used it so can't personally vouch for it.

Hello,
I have the Maximus V Formual which has the Intel Z77 chipset. I just did a clean install of Windows 10 64Bit.
Sadly I did NOT find much drivers on Asus website, in particular the SATA drivers for the Intel SATA Controller. In device manager I have listed under IDE ATA/ATAP Controllers category the following 3 entries: Standard SATA AHCI Controller.
Without the proper driver, performance and functionality is limited, correct?
Any suggestions where I can download the Intel SATA Driver for Windows 10?

The Windows 7 installer needs its own drivers. It will not bring them over from Vista. If your SATA controller was set to Legacy IDE, Windows 7 has drivers for that on the installation disk. For AHCI you need the F6 install driver on a USB stick or CD/DVD.
What is the Differance between AHCI mode, and the IDE mode of the SATA controller? IDE mode is designed to give the greatest amount of compatibility with older operating systems. If your operating system is not detecting your hard drive it is likely that you will need to specify your AHCI / RAID drivers, or enable IDE mode of the SATA controller.

We're using Blancco 5 with a self hosted BMC 3.8.1. We have version 1.9.0 of the configuration tool, and 2.1.1.90 of the USB creator.

When you're creating the bootable USB stick, make sure to select the option to wipe the USB stick. It won't work unless you enable the wipe option so I'm not sure why they even made that an option. Also, you MUST use their software to create the USB stick. I've tried other ways and it just goes to a blank screen like you mentioned.

You may not be able to recognize all of them later in an aerial view, and some may not show up at all, so coordinates will be helpful. Make notes with each waypoint, such as 'turn left here' or 'drive over lava flow.'

If you want to draw a path manually, by following a visible trail or riverbed, the third icon from the left in the same row is a picture of three blue dots connected by lines, which will let you draw your own lines on the map.

KMZ stands for Keyhole Markup Language—Zipped, and a .KMZ file is a compressed version of a .KML file, which makes it a good default choice. These files can be opened with the programs Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS Explorer, Google Maps, Google Earth, NASA Worldwind, or similar software. To share your route with friends, you can host the file on a website or blog, exchange it through a cloud service such as Dropbox or Google Drive, or email the file (if size permits).

Ieee 1394 Host Controller Driver

Hi, I need help to solve an issue I have with my LSI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller.
I noticed an exclamation mark in Device Manager next to my 1394 Host Controller and despite turning 1394 off in my BIOS it keeps coming back. I've also tried to disable and uninstall this device in Device Manager, with the same result, and when I try to update it I get an error (see screenshots below).

Translated from Dutch it says, A problem occurred installing driver files for your device.
Driver files have been found but an error occurred trying to install them.

Device doesn't start (Code 10). If you know who the manufacturer is of your device, you can visit their website support section to check if there are device driver updates available.

Don't know what the cause is.
My PC is up-to-date (OS, Drivers, important software) and otherwise i don't experience problems.
Tho I find it peculiar to see an error in Device Manager when that particular device is deliberately turned off in my BIOS. And before you ask, yes when I turn 1394 On in my BIOS I experience the same issue...
Hopefully there' someone reading this cry for help and can offer me adequate assistance.
